CONSULAR LEGALIZATION
used for the States non-signatories to the Hague Convention. The concept of document legalization includes a number of strictly determined formal procedures, as a result of which a document becomes legally effective on the territory of another state.
Legalization is always necessary when documents are submitted to public authorities of another country. For example, a document issued on the territory of Russia is valid only in the Russian Federation. Here it can be submitted to different government agencies, however, to be submitted to the authorities of another state, the document needs to be legalized.
Consular legalization of a document includes certification of the document by the bodies of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, bodies of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then at the consulate of the destination country situated in the Russian Federation. Such document will be valid only on the territory of the country which consular mark it bears. This means that if you do consular legalization for China, your documents can be used only in China.
If your documents need a consular legalization, we STRONGLY RECCOMEND you to pay attention to the following:
- Ministry of Justice of RF, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, as well as all consulate offices are located in Moscow.
- In some cases, translation of a document must be done prior to the procedure of consular legalization, in other cases, you can legalize a document in the Russian language, and then do a certified translation to it. Everything depends on the requirements of the country for which consular legalization is made.
Normally, the process of consular legalization takes 2-3 weeks (depending on the consulate of the destination country). The company "Business Solutions" provides the service of urgent consular legalization (8 days).
